Have you ever dreamed of writing a book for children?
We've done it! So can you!

"Several months ago you sent me a wonderful gift, your book. Your book is an obvious & successful labour of love for nature & life. Congratulations for all that it took to complete and publish your book. It's delightful. I was particularly taken with the illustrations (superb) & the poem sidebars (fun, informative, very creative). The main text is good, too. As far as I know, it is the only kids book that seriously (but in a light manner) looks at bear-human interactions with respect for nature & wildlands."
We were honoured to receive a letter from Dr. Stephen Herrero complimenting our work.
Dr. Herrero is a renowned author, Professor Emeritus at the University of Calgary
& the Director of the Eastern Slopes Grizzly Bear Project.

Welcome

... to Writing for Kids, a website developed from the work of three very ordinary ladies...

Never Bug A Bear Team (left to right): Kate Carney (designer), Linden Wentzloff (illustrator) and Carol McTavish (author)
one teacher, a mild-mannered postal clerk and a business administrator who have one thing in common, a love of the mountains and a burning desire to write children's books that reflect the spirit and magic of the mountains.

With a lot of hard work and a modicum of luck we were able to write, illustrate and publish three successful children's books, two of which were finalists in the Alberta Book Awards Best Education Book of the Year and our publishing company won a Silver Award as Emerging Publisher of the Year.

We've developed this website to share our success with you.

Hopefully, if you're reading this, you too have a burning desire to write a children's book and we can pass on to you in a short amount of time the hundreds of hours of learning it took us to publish our books that have gone on to sell over 18,000 copies.
